Me and Joshua Paul went yesterday to watch 3 God-Built clients / friends compete in the local triathalon.  They did great and Joshua Paul had a great time watching them compete.  He let me know that he “could do that” and wanted to know when he could “race” with them in the “marathon.”  I went on to explain to him that it was called a “triathalon” because there were 3 events.  Later that day he was telling someone about it and called it the “3 marathon.”  Good stuff.

I was reading another article today from Dr. Mercola’s site about spirulina.  Spirulina is a powerful nutrient that you may have heard of before, especially if you have taken a “greens food” supplement before.  It is very powerful, and instead of me trying to give you specifics i suggest you go to this link http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/07/17/spirulina-one-of-natures-nearperfect-foods.aspx and check it out for yourself.

I just bought a new can of a “greens food” and after reading this article i am going to make sure and start taking it again.  Garden of Life has a very good one, and i buy Now Foods Fruit & Greens Phytofoods.  You can find it online at a good deal.  And if you are already taking a different brand “greens food” then yours probably has spirulina in it.  On this subject, realize like all other supplements, they are not all created equal.  Just because a brand has something listed on the label does not mean it is a very high quality, and there is a difference.  I do not know about all brands, but i do trust Garden of Life and NOW Foods.  You take it from there.  Get on it dog’on it.

My little nieces have been having a blast this week staying with us, and of course Joshua Paul and David Ben have been loving it too.  I remember how much i loved getting to go to my aunt’s house who lived near atlanta when i was growing up and all the fun stuff we got to do.  It was such a blessing to me and i am blessed to be able to do this same thing for my nieces. 

You know, i talk a lot about choices and the fact that i believe your health and your life are your choice.  Not to get into a deep discussion here, so lets just summarize it with this:  You cant do anything about your past, but you absolutely can do something from this second forward in order to progress in any area of your life, if you choose to.  Obstacles come to all of us, but you can choose to face those obstacles that may come and expect to overcome them through the power of Christ.

I talk a lot about you getting and keeping your “heart” right, controlling your mind will and emotions, and taking the natural and or physical actions needed to progress in health and life.  And i talk of course a lot about the fact that you have the 100% right and authority to do these things.  Then it comes down to just doing them.  But there is one very important factor that you must always remember that is the foundation for all of this.  To know this important truth and to embrace it is truly the glue and the power that gives you the confidence and expectation that you can and will overcome in your health and life.  This one thing is KNOWING WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST.  Yes i know i have talked about this many times, but again, the truth is something you and i should hear over and over, and want to continually hear.  The truth of who we are in Christ is what we must understand in order to realize “just who we are” and “what we have been empowered with.”  To know this and recieve it as truth in your life, no matter what your life may seem at the moment, is so important.  Check out this link from god-built.com and remind yourself of it constantly.

Inflammation, Revelation

 One of my clients and I were talking this morning about the email sent out yesterday concerning astaxanthin and its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.  We went on to talk about how it can help with combating any inflammation related disease such as heart disease, diabetes, general pain, etc.  He went on to say something like “You know, I bet that much of these problems from inflammation come from stress.”  He went on to discuss some of his own experiences and how he has noticed a difference in inflammation according to his level of stress. 

 Now this is a powerful realization here.  You have heard me talk about it a lot, how stress worry and anxiety cause many physical problems.  But hearing him talk this morning about it just reaffirmed to me that you, and me, need to hear it again.  So here you go:  No matter how great your nutrition is, how great your workout plan is, how many anti depressant drugs you take, no matter how many prescription drugs you take for a particular ailment, if you do not take control of your mind will and emotions, you will not be in control of your health.  If you are constantly worried and stressed, your best efforts with all the other health practices will not produce the best results. 

 You have a right and a responsibility to control your thoughts and the words coming out of your mouth.  You have a right to control your emotions.  If you do not control them, they will control you.  And yes, it is your choice.  But remember, you on your own can not do this, at least not at the optimum level and not longterm.  It is through the power that is put into you through Jesus that you have the ability to control your thoughts and words.  It is through this power that you have inside of you that you can choose to not worry.  No you can not stop negative and dreadful thoughts of defeat from coming but you absolutely can choose whether or not you think on these thoughts.  You take every thought that comes to you and make sure it lines up with the Word of God and what He says about you and what you have through Jesus.  If that thought is contrary to the Word, then you immediately cast it down and say what the Word says:  You are an overcomer; You are not a slave to sin; You are the Righteousness of God; You have the ability to not worry; You have the peace of God that passes all understanding and that guards your heart and mind; You, through the Holy Spirit, have been given all the wisdom you need.

inflammation – 75% deal with it

I was reading an article from Dr. Mercola’s natural health website and thought it important to share with you.  He always has some very informative health articles.  Today’s was about inflammation and a very promising nutrient that can help to fight it called astaxanthin. 

INflammation, according to a study affects 75% of us americans.  And it is a huge deal as far as being a main cause for many illnesses such as heart disease, alziehmer’s, arthritis, and even cancer.  Anyway, astaxanthin is a carotenoid that is so far one of the most powerful ones found.  It mainly comes from algae in the sea and is becoming more available as a natural supplement.  Anytime you can do something “natural” to help reduce inflammation in the body, is a good thing.  Your body has a natural inflammation trigger, and that is good.  Because of most people’s diet and lifestyle conditions, their inflammation is way too high and constant.  I have talked with you before about the some ways to fight inflammation through your diet, and this is just another very good option, especially for those dealing with inflammation problems.  Check out this link to Dr. Mercola’s article and it will give you much more detail.

As far as how to actually get this supplement your best bet is to google astaxanthin and in the mean time i will be checking myself to see the best sources for it.  As of now i know that Garden of Life carries a product called Fucothin that has a high concentration of astanxanthin.  If you find any good info please pass it along so we can share it with all.

 I went to pick up my 2 little nieces on Friday, and they are staying with us for the week.  Joshua Paul and David Ben love them so much and boy did they have a big time this weekend.  It’s fun to watch them play, and fight, and how they can constantly play so hard all day long.  It brings back great memories from my childhood and how I always loved playing with my cousins.  Good stuff.

parents, kids, life

I was talking yesterday with a client and friend about teaching our kids to be thankful.  She, like most all of us parents, was concerned that even though she constantly taught her kids to be thankful, they were often very selfish, ungrateful, and inconsiderate. 

I basically told her that she should not worry, and that her kids were just being kids.  And not to get overly concerned and definitely to keep planting those good seeds into them, expecting to see a harvest of “grateful”, and “thankful” kids one day.  Just like most everything else in life, good seed takes much time, energy, focus, and faith to produce a mighty harvest.  So whatever it is that you are doing towards taking control of your health and life, keep it up.  And remember that your good seed will return back to you a mighty harvest.  You must keep watering that seed, keep the weeds out, put some fertilizer on it, the whole time totally expecting all that time, energy, and effort to produce the desired results.

Big 4th, much thanks

Me and the family had a huge day on the 4th.  We got up yesterday morning, cleaned up the golf cart, decorated her with some flags, and drove to the parade.  The boys had a blast at the parade snatching up all the candy the could, and bunch of other stuff.  Then we spent the rest of the day with family and friends, topping it all off with some good ole homemade icecream.

We talk a lot with the boys about being thankful.  And of course we spent extra time this weekend and the 4th talking with them about how blessed we are to live in this awesome country.  We believe it is a very important thing to raise our boys up to be “thankful” to God, and being people who are making an effort daily to be thankful.  One thing for sure i have found out is that it is nearly impossible to be negative and ungrateful if you are constantly thankful.  And I expect that my little boys will grow up to be some of the most thankful and blessed people on the earth.

L’s 17 Day Diet Update

LeAnne is in the middle of a 17 day Nutrition plan that is very strict, and is set up to help a person lose weight quickly.  She has done very good with it, and I am very proud of her.  One thing that you will find with “quick” weight loss plans is that they are just that, “quick”.  They are set up to make some serious changes and restrictions.  They call for serious commitment and consistency, but they are for short term.  They call for some restrictions that would not be necessarily healthy to follow for long term.  But again, for short term, if the individual will stick to the plan, they will most likely get good results.

With almost all quick weight loss, or body fat loss plans, there are some common guidelines to follow.  I am going to give you a few of these common ones and realize that you can use 1 or more of these to help with your health goals.

Calorie restriction – this is not always a good idea, but for short term it usually renders good results if the quality of food is high and balance of calories is good.

Smaller, more frequent meals – this is a great one because it helps with insulin levels, which is key for several reasons

Cut out all or most grains – most grains that people eat are highly processed, and render a toxic effect, or inflammatory response in the body.  Most people eat way too much grains.  So to cut these way back or out totally is one of the biggest keys.

Cut out most sugars – Once you start counting all the sugars you are eating you will be surprised how much sugar you are taking in on a daily basis.  Most quick diets will have you cut your sugars to under 40-50 grams per day and work you down to under 15-20 grams.

Lots of water – this is key for fat loss, toxin release, + many other reasons

There are others but these are some of the most common among quick weight loss plans.  You can implement one or more of these into your daily diet very easily.  And one of the most important benefits of these plans, as I see it, is that once someone sticks it out for the given time, not only do they get good results, they “see” that making good changes is “doable” and they can fit it into their lives.
