LOVE; Thoughts; and Words.
This is nothing new for us here at God-Built, yet it is still extremely enlightening to see all the research and evidence. Here at God-Built we have been teaching the importance of these as it concerns health since we started as a company back in 2001. We still dont know the “whole” of the subject for sure, yet we are making headway I believe in understanding more specifics about Love, Thoughts, and Words, and how they directly impact our health. Also, we are praying and fulling Expecting God to show us the best way to deliver these Truths to His people so His people can be empowered. As His people, you and me, are empowered with this understanding, we will be more likely to use it to our advantage for better health, and LIFE, control / improvement.
See even though #1 The Word tells us that the “Spirit” part of us holds all His promises and blessings, In Christ, we still sometimes forget that. And even though HIS Word tells us that our “soul” (mind, will, emotions) part of our being has a direct and powerful impact on our physical health, we many times discount it. When we forget and or discount the power of the Spirit and Soul part of our being, we most definitely will experience the negative side effects in our lives, including our physical health. So make sure you dont discount these 2. Remember you are a “spirit being”, you have a soul which is your mind, will, and emotions. And you live in a body. And the “order of importance” is just that: Spirit, Soul, then Body. Health truly does come from the inside out!
I know we all likely have many things we are planning on improving this awesome year, 2017. I encourage you this year to think on this subject. I truly believe that as you focus on this Truth of who you really are and the Biblical order of importance, then not only can you positively impact your health, but also every area of your life. So GET ON IT DOG’ON IT!

One of the most important things you can do right now is to go ahead and declare what I just said, or something else very positive and Confident about this year, 2017, for you personally. Do Not just “wait and see” how 2017 turns out for you. Do Not just “hope” it turns out to be a great year. And Do Not base this year’s goodness for you personally on whether or not you face challenges or not. Challenges are going to come. They always do. And yes sometimes they come harder and more often. Sometimes they come in the form of tragedy. So do not put your hopes in “no challenges or adversity”. Put your hope in Christ who has already empowered you to overcome anything you will face this year.
Me, LeAnne, and the boys all named 1 thing that we wanted to “improve in” for this year. It was great to hear the boys tell what their goal was to improve on, and to have them involved in this “family unit plan” on a personal level. When it came my turn to name 1 thing I was expecting to improve on, I had many things run through my mind, all of which I had already been thinking on: health; finances; God-Built; etc. The one thing though that really jumped out as the most important though as we talked about it was to be a better Daddy and husband. And no I didnt say that at the time just because it might have looked and sounded good being there with the family. I meant it and realized at that point that it truly was the most important goal for me to focus on this year.
Now I know that for me to meet that goal, I am going to have to #1 improve in my relationship with The Father. And better yet, I dont have to, I “GET TO”! I realize that anytime I improve my understanding of Him and His Love for me, it helps me in any and every area of my life! And this is one of the reasons why I am so excited about 2017 for God-Built. I am focusing our attention to more of Teaching and Coaching people:
on the power of realizing God’s Love;
The power inside each person;
How to use this power to steer their health and lives in a more positive direction.
Now of course this has been the main stay and foundation of God-Built and our programs since we first opened in 2001. The majority of our time spent with people though has been helping them with the physical: Nutrition and Exercise. And while yes these 2 components are very important, they are not the most important. So it is time for us to literally “put our money where our mouth is”!
We still will offer Personal Training and Sports Performance Training for Athletes. And we have done a good bit of on site Health & Life Improvement Coaching over the last 16 years, but now we are going to put most of our focus there. And I am excited about where God is taking us and how He IS using God-Built to fulfill the vision He gave years back: GOING INTO ALL THE WORLD TEACHING PEOPLE WHO THEY ARE IN CHRIST, THROUGH FITNESS.

Me, LeAnne, and the boys really had a great Christmas this year. It was a great time to be had by all. One of the things I am most grateful for is that even though it could have been a sad Christmas since it is the first Christmas since my mom passed away, we still chose to make it a great one. That is not to say it wasnt hard. And yes I had several “cries” during the last couple of weeks just thinking about her and the fact that this was our first Christmas without her. She really got into Christmas with the decorations, the baking, and the gifts for the grandkids.
I guess the main way I was able to keep from being overwhelmed with sadness, even though i felt like it many times, was to keep the focus off myself and remember a few important facts:
- She is in heaven and has no sadness or pain anymore. And she would never want me to be sad about her.
- Christmas is about giving to others, not about self. That is what Christ did!
- I realized if i was crying or sad it would take away from others joy
Really I guess it all came down to taking focus off of myself, and putting it on others. Doing this helped me to stay “in the Christmas spirit”, full of joy and making conscious efforts to think about others. And this is pretty much the answer to a lot of LIFE. As we take our focus off of SELF, and choose to put it on others, not only to we end up doing a lot of good for others, we also reap the benefits from it personally.
Expect to finish off 2016 great. And Expect to make great things happen for others in 2017. in 2017 as you choose to make great things happen for others, God will make great things happen for you! Ye baby!

The above “approach” to health is what we here at God-Built believe is the absolute best way to go about taking control of and improving one’s health. We also believe that this approach, and the foundational principles involved, will help anyone to improve in any area of their life. This is the approach, or “equation” that we have used since day 1 to help our clients to take control of their health and lives, and we have seen great success.
One of the main reasons for us using this approach is that we believe it helps anyone who chooses to apply it consistently to positively impact their overall lives greatly, not just their health. See it is as we understand and apply:
- The Love of God, who we are In Christ, and the Power inside us already (Spirit)
- The powerful tools we have been given with our mind, will, and emotions. And the great strength and impact we can have in our health and lives as we choose to take control of these tools and use them as intended. (Soul)
- as we choose to do the physical actions needed to control the body with Nutrition and Exercise (Body)
That we begin to see newness, improvement, and or positive change in our health and any other area of life we point our focus towards. And yes there are many areas of our lives that can be positively impacted without even directly focusing these Godly principles towards. It just happens as a “byproduct”.
So as you have heard us say here at God-Built for years now “Nutrition & Exercise are important parts of the whole health equation, but they are not the most important.” You have to:
1.Understand that God loves you unconditionally. You already have inside of you everything you will ever need to walk out His absolute best for you in your health and life through Jesus Christ. Knowing His Love, and who you are In Christ builds up your confidence and therefore expectancy like nothing else can. It is from these 2 that you get truly Inspired, and not just motivated.
2.Choose to take control of your mind will and emotions, first by understanding that you can because you were designed that way. As you choose to literally THINK the correct way, and choose to SPEAK the correct way, you are more likely to ACT the right way. ACTing the right way means you choose to do the correct things that you know will bring about the desired results.
This my friend is what I believe the best way to approach Health and Life improvement, and or “positive change”. It can be whatever you want to call it. and understand too as we have said many times over, this is not just about “being positive”, “mind over matter”, and or “self improvement”. This is about helping you to experience God’s true best for you in this life. And trust me, as you start to experience more of His best for you, it is going to positively impact others around you. and that is all part of His plan. Actually one of the biggest parts of His design is that as you help and do positive things for others, it comes back to you! This is not kharma, or some odd law of nature. This is simply God’s promise in His word “whatever you do for others, I will do for you.” Count on it!

CHRISTMAS TIME!! I love Christmas time. This is my very favorite time of the year. I am like a little kid. I love to listen to Christmas music, look at lights, and watch the “classic” Christmas movies like: Rudolf; Frosty the Snowman; and we now include The Elf on the Shelf movie as one of the “classics” that we love to watch with the boys!
Speaking of Elf on the Shelf, 2 sisters who are friends of mine and LeAnne are the creators along with their mom. We are very excited and thankful for the success they have seen from this product. Even though at The Johnson’s we handle the whole “santa claus” thing differently than many parents do, our boys still love doing the whole “elf on the shelf” thing. I mean they really get into it and love playing along with the whole idea of it. So again i am excited about all the huge success our 2 friends have had with this and Thankful for them and what God is doing for them.
The main reason I bring them up and their success story with the Elf on the Shelf is to talk with you about the Power of The Word and Confession of The Word. Several years ago when this product was first really taking off, one of the sisters met with me. I asked her what were some of the main reasons for their success. Here are her 2 reasons i remember the most:
#1 Their Faith in God, and His Favor on their lives
#2 Their parents reading God’s Word and Confessing His promises over them all their lives.
She went on to tell me specific scriptures that their parents would read and say out loud over them day after day, year after year. And anyone can say what they want, but in the end it wasnt the hard work, the consistent effort of work and faith, and it wasnt luck, it was their Faith in God, and in His promises that had been spoken over them for years. Now I know all the other stuff was an important part, yet it was not the most important.
So this reminds me and I want it to remind you of the power of Confessing out loud God’s blessings and promises, from His Word, over your kids. And that same is true as it concerns you. Read and say out loud His promises over yourself. Put His Word IN you and IN your kids constantly. It is the most powerful thing I believe any of us can do for our kids and for ourselves. Going into Companies teaching Health & Life principles. + New Research on how negativity affects Health
Check these 2 quotes from an article I read today that gave some notes on recent research:
“Pessimism in general raises your risk of ill health. The most pessimistic had a 220 percent higher risk of dying compared to the most optimistic. They also had a 73 percent higher risk of lethal heart disease”
“[T]here was a ‘dose-dependent’ relationship, where the worse the health anxiety, the greater the likelihood of developing heart disease down the road.”
Wow! That is pretty eye opening. I believe we all in some part know the dangers of being “negative”, Stressed, and or depressed and how these can negatively impact our lives, particularly our physical health. And if you have kept up with us here at God-Built for any length of time, you have heard us “preach” this loud and consistently for many years now.
One thing that is for sure is that the Bible has told us explicitly how fear, strife, depression, bitterness/unforgiveness, and condemnation can literally kill us and or at least have a major negative impact in our health and lives. Science has and continues to back this up. Remember this: For every thought there is an emotion tied to it. And from that emotion there comes a direct hormonal response in the body. The hormonal response can be from very small to very big. It can be from very positive to very negative as far as the impact on the physical body. This is huge.
I know it may seem that I harp on this subject a lot, but it is only because I truly believe it is sooooo important. As you know, I believe this part of the health equation is much more important than the Nutrition and Exercise. And the great news is you have total control over this in your life. Now yes I understand it may take time, and it may take a lot of work, yet you can GAIN CONTROL OVER YOUR THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS. You can not control every thought that comes into your head, but you can control what you do “think on”! And you are “supposed to have emotions, and not let them have you.”
Choose today to do 3 things:
- Realize & Accept the truth that your thoughts and emotions do have a powerful impact on your health and life.
- Understand that God did give you the power to control your thoughts and emotions. (and yes I truly believe no matter how far gone you may be down the “negative” road, you can slowly but surely get control.)
- Choose to “on purpose” use your thoughts to steer your health and life in the correct direction, the direction you want them to go!
**ok and here are some more things you can do along these lines of thoughts and emotions:
- Be Thankful / Grateful. This is pretty easy to do, no matter what and or how bad your current situation is.
- Like we say “it is hard to be stressed out when you are so busy being Thankful
- Find a way to Encourage/Help someone else
- Again, it is hard to be worried about self when you are busy focusing on others
*I will be teaching these principles in some different ways come the first of the year. This is my passion, to teach people how to take control of their health and lives using Godly principles and the “Spirit, Soul, body” approach to health. I have been doing this for 20 years now, God-Built has been operating for 15 years, and still I see that we have so much more to give. We have so many more lives to impact for God’s Kingdom, helping them to realize who they are In Christ, and the life He has for them here on this earth. Ye baby!

You know sometimes I feel like I am saying the same things over and over to the point that I should not say “those things” anymore maybe because people are getting tired of hearing it. Yet I remember a very good and wise quote: If something is real to you, you get tired of hearing it. And with this also remember it is always the “fundamental”, Simple principles that work and produce life in every area of your life when repeated consistently. So that being said I am going to repeat what I usually say during this holiday/end of the year time:
Do 1 or 2 simple and positive things now with your Nutrition and Exercise, and do not wait until after the new year.
Now is a great time of year, and for me personally it is likely my favorite time of year because of Christmas. Now is a great time of cheer, excitement, family and friend gatherings, etc. And with that comes busier schedules, lots of “less than best food” opportunities, and plenty of Excuses. Well there is really no reason you cant have your “Christmas” Cake and eat it too. And yes i mean that literally!
For most it is not realistic to plan to hit a strict diet and or exercise plan if they are not already deeply involved in one and or the other. And I dont recommend to most that you do something like that. It is very likely you are setting yourself up for failure. **(notice though i said “to most”. So yes it can be done but it is not as likely. This is just from my experience.) And on the other hand you should not just say “the heck with it” and totally go whacky with all kinds of crazy eating and no Exercise to speak of. This is just going to make it that much harder at the first of the year.
If I were you I would literally make a goal to “not gain weight”, and or “not lose any level of fitness” during this holiday season. This may seem counter productive, but actually it is a very Proactive mindset to have. This will let you see that you can eat some of those Christmas goodies at the parties, yet you know that all you have to do is be very aware and control the quantity. And with this mindset as far as exercise, you know that you dont have to workout everyday, just keep up with working out 3-4 days per week, even if it is only 10-15 minutes per workout. Or if you are currently working out 0-3 times per week, just make a simple goal of making sure you get for sure those 2-3 workouts in each week.
It really is simple. And yes that is like most everything else in life that is valuable, it is Simple. And yes we all know that simple does not mean easy. So go ahead and make your Simple goals and plans to maintain a certain level of fitness during these great holidays. THEN WHEN THE FIRST OF THE YEAR COMES AROUND, YOU WILL HAVE GREAT MOMENTUM to do whatever you want!
Realize God Loves you. You choose to control your Thoughts, Words, Emotions. This will lead to better, more consistent actions, which in turn leads to better health and life. Ye baby!

I have been studying more into the whole “spirit, soul, body” approach to fitness. As you know, this is the approach we use here at God-Built and have used since day 1.
And now I am convinced more than ever that this is the best way to approach improving your health! I didn’t come up with it, I was blessed to be led to study and use this “system” well before we opened up God-Built.
I am going to give you a quick review of what we teach:
If you are going to most effectively take control of your health and life, you must use the correct order to grow the “whole person”: Spirit, Soul, and Body.
Spirit- Know first and foremost that God is for you, He Loves you, and He wants you to be healthy.
- Everyone has a different idea of what “healthy” is to them. This is relative. You just decide, with His help, what healthy means to you, then trust Him to help you get there.
- As you understand more about His love for you, you will understand more about just Who you are, In Christ. This knowing will empower you like nothing else!
Soul- Mind, Will, & Emotions – Our Soul part of our being are simply Tools that God has given us to Control, and to use to steer our health and lives in the right direction.
- We can control our mind by choosing what we think on. We can control our mouth to Speak the Words He wants us speaking: Words of life. We can control our emotions and we do not have to let them control us.
Body- Exercise and Nutrition. These are very important components of the whole “health” equation, yet they are not the most important.
- As we use the first 2 parts of our being, Spirit & Soul, the body part is much easier to handle. I truly believe we can change our health from the inside out.
- Knowing the love of God inside, living in His Peace and Faith, controlling our thoughts and words, and steering our emotions the correct way will literally cause good health to ignite inside and show up on the outside. Then at the same time we are doing some form of Exercise (Moving), and controlling our Nutrition, and our health improves. Sometimes it improves drastically!
There you go. That is just a quick overview of what and how we have taught health here at God-Built since day 1. We haven’t always done the best job of teaching it I know, but we have done it for years now.
I believe God is opening up doors for us to be more effective at teaching what we believe is His way of approaching health, and life improvement. And to me, the most important issue here is that He is helping me, you, and others through this type of training to see HOW MUCH HE LOVES US!

GB Inspiration- Your Mind is simply a TOOL that God gave you. Your Mind, one of your tools, is a very powerful Tool. It is your job to take control of that Tool and use it to Steer your health and your life in the direction you want it to go. **And it is as hard as you may think. Yes it takes consistent effort, but again it isnt so hard that you can not do it. You can because HE designed you in such a magnificent way that you can, and you will.
GB Nutrition- Here is another, and *better way to look at Food Journaling / Logging: Instead of keeping records to see where you are doing wrong, keep records to help yourself SEE how much better you are doing!
GB Exercise- God didnt design us and our health such that we should have to join a gym and make ourselves go work out everyday. He designed us to be able to MOVE, and to be able to Move well. And it is our job to simply keep that “MOVING” ability up by “Moving”. Now for most of us since our normal daily jobs/activities usually dont require much movement, we now have to find a way outside our normal daily work to MOVE. So it doesnt matter how you get your MOVING in, just MOVE!

GB Inspiration- Never Give up! No matter how many times you may seem to fail, never stop expecting. Never give up on your dreams and goals. Never except less than His best for you. Although sometimes it may seem like it is too hard, and or not possible at all, DONT GIVE UP. Believe The Word when it says to “not grow weary in well doing (doing the right things), because at the right time you will reap the reward”!!!
GB Nutrition- You surely have heard this many times but make sure and do not discount this as you read it again: Look at, SEE, Food as simply a means, a tool, to help you get where you want to be in your health, performance, and physical appearance. Do this for the majority of the time you eat. And for a small majority of the time, it might be ok to see food as a means to meet a craving you have.
GB Exercise- Remember that you DO NOT have to workout for 20/30/ or 60 minutes for the workout to be “Effective”. 4,5,7, and 10 minute workouts are highly effective, especially when done consistenly 3-5 days per week. The main thing is simply TO MOVE! If you WILL commit to longer workouts, then great. At the same time KNOW what you will consistenly DO, and then DO IT!!
